All my Asian friends from college were excited about this movie because of "representation." So as an Asian American who works in Hollywood, I wanted to like this movie... Raya and the Last Dragon 2021
If you have nothing against Awkwafina, but you generally don't find her very funny and don't understand why she's getting all this attention... then this film will make you absolutely hate her and her raspy voice. I actually don't hate the story of Raya too... I just kinda hate Awkwafina's character she plays (which is pretty much just herself in every TV/Movies she's been in). I kinda hate dragons now too... I feel sorry for the animators that had to listen to her voice 50+ hours a week...

I think I just don't like Wes Anderson movies the same way someone generally hates a genre of music. "It's fine other's like it, but It's just not my cup of tea... also tea is just bag of dirt in hot water..." Camera movement is zoomy... the voice over is just exposition on steroids... every scene with a song ruins the song for me... and camera composition where everything is centered and symmetrical grows old really fast. But besides film technique critique, I didn't care about anyone in the story...
