Went to a surprise cinema screening and this came up.
A super grounded English revenge film, that had a kind of Eden Lake type vibe in places, you really really want her to succeed against her absolute piece of shit neighbour.
A thoroughly enjoyable tense film, very much recommend to anyone that likes English revenge type films.
I really liked the first three episodes of this and overall quite liked the opening concept to the story.
Unfortunately it started taking a nosedive after the half way point when I realised I was beyond confused at what was going on. Unfortunately I started coming up with better ways for the story to go than the way it actually went…….
Then there was the ending which was….. well…. awful
Happy, sad, absurd, touching, gay, kinky, chaotic, serene, fast, slow, nihilistic, hopeful, everything, everywhere all at once.
I sort of came out of this film a little depressed, mainly because you know sometimes when something is truly special and well this is something special, a very once in a while type thing.
Is it my favourite film of all time? Well I saw it a couple of hours ago and at the moment it is. I’ll see how I feel…
