Fuck I love a cosmic horror. Even if the CGI is shit (which maybe lends itself to the beautiful-cause-it's-shitty quality).
For me, this movie asks the question: why was the concept of hell ever tolerable to humanity? But also it's so wonderfully unpretentious in asking this question, cause it still just wants to be a fun action horror movie

Dracula improved! Traditional narrative with a lot of the fucking around cut out by making the characters more intuitive, and especially making the women active in the narrative rather than passive. The characters feel more like they're in the story they're in – Dracula is truly beastial, Harker is scared shitless, the professor is academically disregarded. Themes of the original narrative are still present but presented in a way that works better for contemporary culture and cinema.
