Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio 2022
Not sure why letterboxd uses the (granted touching) scene of Pinocchio learning to pick Gepetto’s nose as the representative image for this film, but oh well. Enjoyed watching the little wooden boy defeat fascism - we could use his piney partisan prowess right now.

The Banshees of Inisherin 2022
Beautiful scenery, fantastic acting, but the story for me did not work - either as an (overwrought) absurdist metaphor for the Irish civil war, or as a realist depiction ( and It couldn’t decide which of the two it wanted to be). Makes you want to travel back to the 20s to grab a stout with a mate in a dark Irish pub.
