Watched this again for the first time in years and it’s kind of an interesting one to review - some of the graphics don’t really hold up and look a bit odd/video game styled by today’s standards. However, thinking about how this film was such a cultural phenomenon in what its budget could produce in special effects doesn’t allow me to give an even remotely poor review. The plot and reasonably good character developments also keep up with the stunning visuals.

The acting was a bit crap, and having not watched this film as a child didn’t really get the whole nostalgia element. I guess some of the artistic choices were kind of cool but the plot didn’t really go anywhere and the ending was so predictable. Fun songs though!

All in all, I liked this movie’s message. I was quite happy that it ended with the Clovers winning since they were the best and most original cheerleaders. Wish we went more into the gay undertones and nuances, but definitely deserving of an okay rating.
