This beautiful and ambitious project transports you to the warm landscapes of Laos, placing you on a journey with an aspiring photojournalist and a young monk trying to find his mother.
The film has a home movie quality to it, brought in part by the choice to shoot on 16mm.
It's a simple story that feels as though it was made by a handful of people and this lends an authenticity to the piece that only adds to its charm.
I was lucky enough to see Satu at Aesthetica and immediately fell in love with it. 5 stars.
