i love this film. a perfect balance of goofy and dramatic. something really comforting and nostalgic. i used to watch this on my video ipod at night while trying to fall asleep. anyways i just watched it on a 7 hour plane ride with heavy turbulence and screaming babies.

this is the most unsettling horror movie ive ever seen. i’ve rewatched it multiple times and it never fails to overwhelm me with intense fear. an hour and thirty minutes of romantic drama that wouldn’t feel out of place in a lifetime movie explodes into the insane climax, the revelation of Asami’s true identity, and of course one of the most vile visual torture scenes ever captured in film. Takashi Miike, take a bow.
