Gene Hackman is the least subtle detective. He cooked and ate, leaving no crumbs.

I thoroughly enjoyed whenever Cynthia Erivo sang, as well as the last scenes at the Palace. But that’s pretty much it. It felt extended for the sake of extending in many areas, particularly any segment with the student body at large. A disappointing musical movie, especially with West Side Story (2021) so recently released.

In all seriousness, this movie slapped. The deep cut references to the classical music are insanely good. I was worried going in that this movie could present issues to aspiring female conductors in an arena where female conductors are already rare, but i didn’t need to worry. Best of 2022 so far.
