A mildly entertaining gangster flick that tries very hard to be like those that have come before it. Gangster Squad comes loaded from beginning to end with all of the over the top 40's production design, character back stories, and dialogue you might expect. An average start to 2013, nothing more.

Pitch Perfect 2012
I wasn't expecting much from Pitch Perfect, so boy was I taken by surprise. This may be a bold statement, but I'll say it. Pitch Perfect is one of my favorite comedy films of all time. It's everything you loved about Mean Girls and Bridesmaids thrown together with an amazing soundtrack. I would call it a must see.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close 2011
I do not agree with what many of the critics are saying in regards to this film "exploiting" September 11th. I was in the fourth grade when the attacks happened. Since then, I have viewed my life in two chapters. Pre 9/11 and post 9/11. That day, the innocence of the world was gone and I was forced to grow up fast. This film is a wonderful look inside of the mind of a young boy who sees the world so harmoniously and after "the worst day" is suddenly forced to grow up and take in all of the brokenness.
