Stylised. Clean, simple, black-and-white cinematography made for perfect use of shadows, light and darkness, silhouettes, and inventive transitions between scenes through shadows on tent flaps and starry night skies. Stark shots of monolithic building exteriors and surreal rural landscapes. Clean, bare interiors. All very reminiscent of Nosferatu, Seven Samurai, even 2001: A Space Odyssey, added to the themes of madness, mystery and power.
