I mean I am sucker for end of the earth science fiction type of movies… and still I was bored. Not great and very predictable. How many marriages can a death comet save after all?

Not even all the people running for their lives was able to entertain me.

Firstly the overwhelming use of “fucking” in this movie is impressive.
The first part of the movie is just there really. It serves as an introduction to anora and her world and it does it greatly and very straight forward but I do think it is just a little bit too long and it to put it as honestly as I can, it is boring. But it is also necessary.

Andrew Garfield is a world class contagious cryer.  Even though this movie is technically about this family relationship which is heartbreakingly but strikingly beautiful, it is around the character that Florence Pugh portraits that the whole movie has its value. The moments of hope and perseverance, but also anger and confusion give strength to the arc of this character whom fate is pretty much obvious right from the beginning. Can’t decide between which is better: Cillian Murphy or the cinematography.

No fireworks, no heavy music, no running, no long conversations, just one hour and a half of foggy, dark, anxiety inducing scenes.

This story shows how we can choose between acting against the injustices and crimes that happen right next door or just ignore them cause they are “none of our business”. It really is these small things that we choose to do or to no do that define who we are.

Heavily recommend reading the book before the movie.
