my dad put this movie on when i was about six or seven and i remember thinking i was about to be in for one of the most boring nights of my life, only to find myself glued to the screen, utterly transfixed by the gorgeous visuals and incredible song and dance numbers.
revisiting this for the first time in nearly twenty years, i was struck by how timeless its charm remains. endlessly funny, dazzlingly choreographed, and so unbelievably full of life and vibrancy and love. i can't remember the last time i smiled this much through a film. what an absolute delight.
