Feyd was great as a foil for Paul because they both felt oddly separate from the rest of the power struggle. Paul felt like he was a fundamentally good person who cared about the Fremen but was trapped in the prophecy and the violence it entailed, and Feyd felt like someone who didn't even really care about the Atreides/Harkonnen feud but exemplified the warrior's spirit. They both had concerns outside the war between their houses but both were drawn to the violence, Paul fought again it while Feyd relished in it.
