Billed as something of a murder mystery, I enjoyed this film which has a sprinkling of courtroom drama but the main focus is on the main charcter. I thought the main character was compelling, with an unusual development which made it quite fresh. The scenery is gorgeous and makes the movie in my opinion. I wouldn't hurry to watch it again but I really enjoyed it - there's enough twists to keep you involved throughout and suitably invested in the characters.

My chief issue is that the last 15 to 20 minutes are so rushed that they as well be excluded.

    Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging

    ★★½

A classic coming of age viewed from 'the other side', this film suffers a bad case of unbearable and unsympathetic main characters. Angus, a titular feature, lacks the screen time that he so greatly deserves and the true hero of the movie, Big Pete, is horrifically hard done by.

So this is a famous 'Coen Brother film'. And what a film. The dialogue is exceptional with Margie and Mr Buscemi delivering excellent performances. Notable mentions to Mr Jerry who seems sympathetic but the film doesn't ever let you root for him. Laugh out loud moments not due to slapstick but absurdity with believable characters, motives and actions. More than anything it captures the desolation of mid Western USA and the odd types that live in it. Fantastic film.

You think this is as good as the godfather?! You think this is as good as fantastic Mr Fox?!

I didn't really know what was going on. Kieran did though, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Long live the tussy.
