Finally got around to watching the first movie I added to my Letterboxd watch list.

There are obviously a bajiliion people who have said everything there is to say about this movie infinitely better than I ever could.

That being said, I loved this and immediately saw why it's so beloved.

One of the most beautiful and well shot films ever, and the inspiration is self evident for other projects like Star Wars, Interstellar, and even games like Portal, and so much more.

Really glad I finally sat down and watched this.

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep

    ★★½

A Witcher-fied retelling of The Little Mermaid that ultimately is just fine. The animation is solid but nothing amazing, and the voice acting is bleh outside of Geralt (VO from the games) and Jaskier (actor from the Netflix series).

There's absolutely zero world building in this, so if you're not already deeply familiar with some of the lore from the books or games you'll be absolutely lost (live action show will probably only help a little).

Overall not terrible for a tight 90 minutes of gorey Witcher fun.

What a ridiculous, fun, and funny movie. Ayo Edebiri deserves everything she's getting.

And why is Marshawn Lynch so good?!

    ★★★

Mickey 17 is what you get if Snowpiercer, Edge of Tomorrow, and Starship Troopers had a baby.

There's very little subtext to this movie, as it's message is very heavy-handed. The allegories leave very little to decipher, particularly Marshall's very clear inspo from Trump & MAGA (red hats, red ties, and speaking pattern and all).

And wtf was up with Pattinson's accent here? It fluctuated wildly even between the same Mickies.

Was this movie ultimately enjoyable? Yeah. But it's far from BJH's or Pattinson's best.
