I never really knew about Jim Jarmusch before watching this movie. The drawing point in this movie for me, as I'm sure it was for many of you, was the fact that Tom Waits was in it. After watching 'Down by Law', I'm half tempted to buy Jarmusch's entire filmography on DVD and then binging it over the weekends.
