The Brutalist 2024
MONUMENTAL, monumental is the word, and rightly so, a brutal takedown of the American dream, exploitation, and powers corruption of man. Brody embodies a man's slow descent into being totally broken expertly. Jones and Pearce are scene stealers and are rightly so being praised for their performance’s, but Joe Alwyn has really gone under the radar with such an evil and conniving performance. Incredibly shot by Lol Crawley and one of the year's most addictive scores from Daniel Blumberg, it literally is on repeat in my head. Really great stuff I now see why this is likely sweeping award season.

Paris, Texas 1984
Goodness me, this is such a delight. An incredible screenplay and a masterclass visually. It's a vibe, the road trip of a lifetime, but also emotionally poignant. Reconnecting with your former life and how that affects yours and the lives of others around you. At the heart it’s a wonderful story of fatherhood, guilt and correcting sins of the past. Finally ticked this one off the watchlist; it's been a long time coming. This one will stick with me for some time.
Edit: FUCK IT 5 STARS.

John Wick: Chapter 4 2023
"A loving husband that's what I want on mine."
Just 2 hours and 40 minutes of incredible fight choreography. Beautiful cinematography and outrageous high-octane sequences. In the running for one of the coolest and most entertaining films of all time, action films do not come much better than this. It's not just the action though this was a thoroughly satisfying and emotional conclusion to John Wick's arc. It's fair to say I will never get bored of Mr Wick saying "yeahhhh".

Assassin's Creed 2016
Incredibly convoluted and messy story that wastes way too much time outside of the animus when what's in it was way more intriguing and entertaining to watch. There are a few cool action sequences but nothing major, and the leap of faith scene was one big nothing burger. That was one of the most abrupt endings I've ever seen; clearly a sequel was planned that never came, leaving an incomplete and unsatisfactory finish.

Mickey 17 2025
Mickey 17 is a really fun time at the cinema. Tonally light for the most part, even with its strong subject matter of equality and exploitation. Pattinson and Ruffalo are giving elite performances, particularly Ruffalo; here, he's giving such a good depiction of a crazy tyrant whilst having multiple great comedic moments. Saying that most of the humour lands. The best of 2025 so far.

Heat 1995
"Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner."
HOLY SHIT. one of the coolest films ever with one of the coolest performances ever from Al Pacino. That ending… goosebumps."Told you I'm never going back."
