Rewatched this because I just read the book, and this is SO DIFFERENT from the source material. But for all the worst reasons.
This one loses a lot of the charm of the first film, lacks any real tension, and is kind of ugly to look at. I really wish Spielberg actually adapted the book’s story which felt more raw, brutal, and tense. Plus they completely nerfed so many characters here, particularly Sarah Harding.

Our internet isn’t work so network television’s Saturday night movie was the go for tonight.

Maaaaaybe it’s the hype of going to the Melbourne premiere, but this was just so much fun! Even though this is sometimes silly and over the top, I simply can’t discount how energetic, vibrant and FUN this film is! Because sometimes you just need a light watch, and this brings that in spades.
VFX were flawless, human characters were surprisingly good (especially Skarsgard and Henry), the score was pretty nice and the short runtime ensures you’re not bored like King…
