  ohhh wow i feel like a true flop for having never seen this before! the unintentional camp had me laughing throughout the film, but the aspects that really drew me in were gloria swanson's incredible acting, and the sharp, witty writing. loved the appearances from cecil b. demille and buster keaton as well. a true cinema classic that i won't forget.

  this was fierce! lily-rose depp stunned. skarsgard was grotesque but i kind of lived for his gel-x mani. willem dafoe is forever daddy…i said what i said. a cinematic masterpiece!

  The Umbrellas of Cherbourg 1964

  the newest remaster was beautiful, and it was nice to revisit this on the big screen after seeing a screening of lala land in the same day. for me, the enjoyment came from drawing the visual connections between demy’s french new wave and chazelle’s love letter to old hollywood classics. i am not sure i particularly like guy or genevieve as people, but the actors, music and cinematography are the reasons i will come back to this film.
