The Battle of Algiers 1966
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
There is no music, no fanfare. We fade in on a grimy little room where an Arab-Algerian man -- stripped to his underwear -- sits in the centre, motionless, speechless. He has just been tortured. Monkey Man 2024
"Monkey Man" was written, directed, and painstakingly brought to live during the late pandemic by Dev Patel. It's impressive it got made at all. Unfortunately, it's nothing extraordinary. Everything Everywhere All at Once 2022
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
It's a confused mess of a film, and not in a good way. Imagine a live-action, Chinese-American "Rick and Morty" and you've got a pretty good idea of what you're dealing with. Something-something the whole multiverse is contained in an "everything" bagel (ha-ha), and maybe the real adventure is just doing laundry and taxes with the fellas, god what cringe!

Never Let Me Go 2010
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
While this movie doesn't reach the emotional heights of the novel it's based on, it still gets its core message across really well. The acting (especially Cary Mulligan), pacing, and cinematography are also pretty top-tier.
