    Watcher

    ★★★

Watcher has a good bit going for it, specifically featuring Maika Monroe who never misses as a horror lead, and character actor extraordinaire Burn Gorman as the antagonist. The filmmaking is also inspired, elevating it throughout. However, it is an extremely standard kind of story, ultimately having very little to latch on to, predictable plot points, and a meh ending.

    The Conversation

    ★★★★

I would refer to The Conversation charitably as deliberately paced at times and uncharitably as sluggish at other times, but its unique perspective on a noir mystery and extraordinary denouement really show why its such well regarded film.

This one didn't speak to me the same way I Saw the TV Glow did, but the connected themes of loneliness leading to a powerful connection with media are easy to see. I was definitely more actively creeped out by this one, as some of the imagery it delivers is quite bone chilling, and the understated but disturbing performances of its two actors were wonderful to watch.

Anxiety is one of the greatest characters in Disney film history, and yes, I'm aware of how unhealthy that sounds.
