I thought this was a really untapped setting for a horror movie. The trailer made me put this one off for a long time but the movie exceeded all my expectations. I have a feeling this will age well and possibly even reach a bit of a cult status at some point. I can’t believe Scotland helped fund this movie.

Heretic 2024
Pretty underwhelming. Despite good performances and a well shot film I think narratively this just goes in a direction that’s not for me. I can take away some bit of cleverness from the screenplay at the end however with most movies about faith, this one also has its cake (or pie) and eats it too.

This movie is too long.
However, the level of insanity when we’re not dealing with a completely pointless family story is something to behold. Absolutely brutal. A lot of movies these days claim to be this level of gruesome in their ad campaigns but this actually delivered. Art the Clown is going down as one of the great villains in horror.
