Expectations were really high: the new film by Bong Joon-ho, a science fiction dark comedy with Robert Pattinson. On paper, my ideal movie. And yet, I can't say I'm fully satisfied with it. As has often happened to me lately, the second part of the film fails to develop and conclude in a satisfying way what was built in the first. The much-appreciated social critique of capitalism and fascism in the West ends up being too didactic and banal (e.g. “we are the aliens” etc.). However, the first part is still entertaining, violent and bitter. I hope it improves on a second viewing.
