I really like Jeremy Saulnier but I wasn’t stoked on Blue Ruin. After Green Room I was more on board for sure. But then Hold The Dark just absolutely blew my mind! It’s still my favorite of his.
Rebel Ridge was such a treat. Rarely do I latch onto a film from the first frame. This was one of those. Iron Maiden definitely helped. I find calm and collected protagonists that still have very difficult battles extremely compelling. This setting, this story, this mood was right up my alley.
It’s strong, focused and serious. Loved it!
