Opening weekend in Japan. We ended up getting IMAX tickets, which was a great way to experience this film. It was gorgeous up there on the big screen and the sound in the IMAX theater top-notch.

I really loved the first half of this movie. And there were a couple of moments about halfway through that really got to me emotionally and I was all bought in. But then the movie goes in a direction that didn't quite work for…

I was expecting to rate this more highly given how much I watched and enjoyed it as a kid. But I don't know... Gene Wilder is really the only thing about the film that I still love.

    My son’s choice

Okay at this point I’m just gonna have to bump my rating up to 5 stars and add to my personal favorites list.

I love this film and my feelings about it never diminish on repeat viewings. It’s not perfect, but the highs are so high that it’s easy for me to overlook the few things that don’t work for me.

The last act still gets me every time. Powerful, beautiful stuff.
