  Super stupid fun popcorn movie. Ridiculous shit constantly happens, but that’s why it’s fun. I love that the production didn’t hire experts to try to make this “realistic.” The whole movie is a quest for a magic key is what will shut down an AI superintelligence. It would’ve sucked if they tried to take that premise too seriously. It’s very 90s in its big-budget over-the-top nonsense instead, and that is a lot of fun. But hoo boy it is stupid.

  Hits even harder in 2024. It's bleaker within the context of an intensified immigration crisis at the US border and common knowledge that nano-/micro-plastics are pumping through our blood... Good stuff, 10/10.

  Probably the funniest closing shot I've ever seen. I don't know why I was the only one in the theater laughing at the end. Maybe it made the audience uncomfortable but it was really hilarious.

  I laughed at the Julliard scene as well—Lydia had valid points to make there even if she was awful about it, and it was funny because she was awful about it. Making the source of the anti-woke discourse a white "U-Haul lesbian" complicates it deliciously.…

  I have nothing personal against Raymond Chandler, but it was very fun to see his own material used to subvert his signature tropes and mock the naiveté/narrowness of the worldview that his work embodied.
