The Crying Game 1992
I have so many words, but considering the 2023-coated lens through which I viewed the film for the first time, it’s difficult to articulate them all while remaining fair to the context of the time period and country in which the film was made. So I’ll leave it at Jaye Davidson should go down as a masterful interpreter of a story that was harmful to a trans woman’s character without real retribution, and that he did the best with the role as he could. Everything else I’ll keep on the side so that can shine through.

Of an Age 2022
Struggled to hold back tears during the latter half, which thrives on the contrast in scarce dialogue where the first half was inundated with it. The effect was stifling as the truth of what happened after 11 years on the emotional lam, so to speak, unfurled like a Queer indie movie buff’s wet dream. Brilliantly cast, intimacy directed, and scored.
