This one line holds such sway over the relationship between Colin Farrell’s Sonny Crockett and Gong Li’s Isabella. From the start their love is doomed not to last though this doesn’t matter because it’s real, regardless of how fleeting. This is also a similar sentiment in the relationships in Mann’s other films, like with De Niro’s Neil McCauley in Heat; the desire for time.
