    Damn, those Shadows!

I felt Flying Padre was way mor interesting than his later work The Seafarers. I liked his shots and transitions. And his use of Shadows, be it in the close-ups or as silhouettes was mir than interesting.

Other than that, this narrative documentary wasn’t necessarily captivating me. Still a decent watch in my opinion.

    Well, what can I say.

Yes, as most of you, I watched The Seafarers because I’m watching every Kubrick movie. I do so in chronological order to experience his progress.

The Seafarers is basically a commercial. I’m pro unionisation, so I’m fine with the topic, but it doesn’t feel like anything special. Besides some interesting shots because of the structures of the ships, there wasn’t really anything to take away for me.

I can not even imagine how Georges Méliès was able to create such a piece of pioneer art in 1902.

    So that‘s how it began

I am watching Kubrick‘s Filmography in chronological order. It‘s interesting to see how he started of, even though Day of the Fight didn’t really catch my breath. I really appreciate his creative choices, even though it was a commissioned piece of work like the situational contrast between the picture and Voiceover.

All in all quite nice in my opinion.

A fun side fact, most of you are probably aware of: The Knock-Out-Scene of the fight was not filmed by Kubrick, because right at that moment he was changing the film of his camera.
