"Le Feu Follet" is known for its intimate and deeply melancholy portrait of a man in a life crisis.

Here we see a man who deeply urges to find a sense of life, feeling that he is always waiting for something to happen to him to hold/embrace.

"Le Feu Follet" is such an introspective film; Louis Malle emphasizes the protagonist's introspection and anguish with such elegance, making the scenarios even darker and more melodramatic. Since the beginning of the movie, I have barely taken my eyes off the dialogues themselves and how they're all connecting meaningfully with the emotions of Alain.

A self-loathing leading to a degeneration that emphasizes a certain type of trust issues, all of this being demonstrated with a lot of style, class, and loneliness through non-dialogue scenes.

This film is a work of art, both cinematographically and in terms of its plot. The ending only shows us the issue of trauma for both characters, but it is not a film that depends on the third act.

If I were to define this movie in a unique sentence , it would be "completely exaggeration."

This movie gave me the impression of constantly wanting to "please," or in this case, "horrify" the viewer...
But in reality, it's just bad acting, horrible story line, poor CGI and a cool camera.
