The Brutalist 2024
Beautifully shot. Great moments here and there. Amazing they made this for $10m. Props to the director for pulling this off. Amazing feat.
But, waaay too long. The second half dragged and was unfocused. The ending ruined everything that came before. It ran out of steam... or ideas... or things to say... or all of the above.

Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World 2023
I read somebody described this film as post-modernist. To that, I would say... I guess? If modernism is a thing, which then would make post-modernism a thing.
I think the -ism debate to be a very western approach to thinking about the world.
I commend Radu Jude for being balls to the wall with this film. Every choice was purposeful. Yet when they are combined together, it can all feel a bit overwhelming.

One of the great absurdist satires. You really have to read into it to understand what it's trying to get at.
I recommend watching Sichuan dialect version. It gives a different rhythm and texture to the film.
