It doesn't get much better than this. All downhill from here.

    Marvel's The Flash

Not that the MCU ever made bold swings but their very few successes (No Way Home and this, really) speak volumes to the depravities of this "cinematic universe." It's not storytelling, it's jangling the keys of childhood to an audience of failed adults. Any audience over 20 that enjoys the relentless nostalgia parade of recent "legacy" blockbusters, this included, needs to grow up and gain some principles.

Unfortunately for all of us, by the nature of the…

    Warcraft

Plummetting through CGI-hell. A tormenting fantasy adaptation that plays more like a $150mil collection of "references you'll never get" than a thought-out film. The first ten minutes of this film have an ensemble of characters jumping between multiple CGI cities to collect exposition. All these cities are introduced with location title cards for The Gamers™ to awe at before they're never seen again.

Despite featuring a plethora of locations, civilizations, and ENDLESS LORE, Warcraft never spares a second to make…

    Mickey 17

    ★★½

Perhaps I've been overtaken by my expectations, but I found Mickey 17 quite disappointing. Bong Joon-ho has a blast with his post-Parasite blank cheque. Interplanetary sci-fi, adorable creatures, and a collection of "big name" actors (half of whom are at their A-game while the other half actively hold the movie back).

Everything is bottled up in a catastrophic narrative mess. The presentation of this movie is all over the place. From a cold open that spends ages struggling to get…

There are many words to describe how terrible Alien Warfare is. This movie is a trainwreck, and yet, it's amazing. Between this and "The Fanatic," 2019 has been a great year for unintentional laughs.

Alien Warfare is about... well, I don't really know. It has no aliens for over half of the movie and definitely no warfare though. Alien Negotiations would be a much more suiting title. I'm going to dig right into this movie. I'll try not to include…

WORLD PREMIERE (with Director Q&A - The Grand Gerrard)
    Grade: 5/10

Anyone can look at Ouija Shark and tear every aspect apart. It’s a low-budget movie about a shark that is summoned out of a Ouija board. Everyone knows it’s stupid. Even the movie knows, and the movie embraces it. That’s what makes Ouija Shark a genuinely enjoyable film to watch. As Brett Kelly (also known as Scott Patrick), the director of Ouija Shark, said during the Q&A, it was…
