if i killed myself and my best friend only had sad, tragic memories to remember me by, i’d haunt her fucking ass
for a movie about the sudden loss of a dear friend to suicide and the grief that comes with it, i didn’t like that there were barely any good memories of mariko. come to think of it, the movie was really more about sympathizing with shiino’s grief than it was empathizing with mariko’s abusive childhood. mariko was reduced to whatever shiino’s memories tell us about her and i just don’t think she, or anyone rather, would have liked to be remembered this way..
