This movie is a B-tier South Park bit but played completely straight. It portrays Mexico as an uncivilized wasteland ruled by cartels. Barely intelligible Spanish. Some of the performances are good, some bops on the soundtrack, and the lead actor really saves this bizarre, clunky mess of a movie.

Oppenheimer is a film that feels like an enormous pop culture event while simultaneously being a three hour, dialogue-heavy character study that extensively uses black and white photography. Watching it on a massive screen with a sold-out crowd on week two was honestly quite unbelievable. In this day and age we almost exclusively expect this for comic book movies and not much else. That thought alone made me very emotional. We just don’t get moments like these very often. Thankfully Oppenheimer is worthy of the moment.

Beautiful, stressful, and riveting story that was captivating from start to finish. Amazing sound design. Challenges its audience without being confrontational.
