As someone who's not typically a fan of movies from this era, Forbidden Planet leaves me giddy when spoken about. Forbidden Planet's effects and story are right there with the cult classic space adventures like Star Trek and Star Wars, and then you remember that it's from 1956. I'd be hard pressed to find a film more impressive than this.
