Presence was excellent.
It’s refreshing, positively restrained, very well paced, and just as long as it needs to be. More importantly, it took me by surprise.
Without spoiling anything, don’t expect a Paranormal Activity or even Ghost Story. This is different, in a good way.
It’s been flying a bit under the radar but definitely watch it if you can.
Really enjoyed Babygirl. Yes, there are plot holes, the pacing is odd at times, and there are far, far too many pussybow blouses, but it still hit the spot.
I like a horny film, and I like it messy. This was that.
The sex scenes are unusual and fairly awkward. Don’t expect a 50-Shades-esque montage of slow motion sexy shots set to an Ellie Goulding song. In fact, don’t expect 50-Shades-anything (which is a *huge* positive). I wouldn’t compare it to The Secretary either. This all feels very different, in a good way.
Gladiator II is absurd, dumb and needlessly self-referential.
Not only does it make very little sense, but it’s also impossible to care about anyone or anything because every character is so two-dimensional. Including Mescal who allegedly is full of grief and rage… not that you can tell.
It’s a film that didn’t need to get made.
The Apprentice is an odd one. The main reason being, it's a film about Trump released less than 3 weeks before the election.
If we can somehow put all that context aside and look at it in a complete vacuum, then it's very good. But that's not possible.
In trying (and, I guess, succeeding) to be fair, well-researched and - somehow - not too polarising, it muddies the waters for me.
On the one hand, I respect it more for…
