Now that is what I call a movie. The ennui of suburban white men is one of my least favorite subjects ever, but SECONDS really transcends that extremely well-documented subject of art of the 20th century to go into deeper human questions about being born again. It is such a good-looking visually arresting movie. There are many sweaty men, it felt like reading a Daniel Clowes comic. I am also glad I saw this not long after seeing A DIFFERENT MAN for the first time. Perfect movie.

Torch Singer 1933
Ultimately a pretty conservative movie but it has its subversive elements. And I am a mom now so I am big old sap when it comes to kids and babies. "You don't have any rhythm in your soul" is a great insult and I will be using that going forward.
