At first, I was unsatisfied with the ending like a lot of other people but then I realized that this fulfilled my childhood desire of the villain "winning" and the "hero" losing. Putting hero and winning in brackets because I don't think winning/losing is the point of the film and I also don't think there's a hero. At the end of the day the message isn't even about good vs. evil and more abt watching others surpas ur abilities and growing old and being an old man (or smth like that idk).

i just don't like how Ponyo drowned the whole town??? that was not necessary girl but the song at the end makes up for it!!
