Quest for Fire 1981
Super impressive commitment to taking the conceit of a silent caveman movie as seriously as possible. The visual storytelling is superb! Every shot could be a painting, or panel in a French comic. The costume/makeup is great as well for being visually distinct between the numerous grunting characters/tribes, but still feeling grounded and serious/plausible.

Masterpiece of modern animation! An incredible sci fi noir that has 0% fat. The few action scenes in the film are impeccably crafted, building up this insane tension and then it all POPS and you're left with a similar sense of shock as the characters.
I've only watched the English dub, but it was so good you could've told me it was the original voice dub.
The animation direction is also incredibly refreshing. It is 100% doing it's own thing, not trying to look like anime or spider verse. The subtle facial expressions really sing with the minimal lineart.
