this was a very whimsical & funny western with 2 of the greatest screen legends who also happened to be best friends. i really had a good time with it.

this was a very charming & warm movie. oh to be accepted & loved for who you are & not what people want you to be. to be able to have a place where you're the happiest. the idea of a female plumber can be considered odd even by today's standards & yet it feels so lovely to see how much cluny loves it & how bellinski adores her for it. lubitsch did it again!

i absolutely adored judy garland in this but i don't understand casting van johnson in this part. he is nowhere as charismatic or romantic as jimmy. also the plot felt very flimsy. almost like they rearranged the shop around the corner & turned into a musical. i wish i liked it more but it didn't make me mad like you've got mail did. but neither van johnson nor tom hanks matched up to jimmy stewart pining for margaret sullavan.

this was better than i was expecting. though terribly unrealistic even today. as a south asian, i doubt it would have gone down this well. watching katharine hepburn's oscar winning performance was marvelous. her firing her racist employee was such queen shit. spencer tracy was fantastic. i've no words for sidney poitier. just simply incredible & his deep voice...ahh so attractive. this film definitely feels ahead of the time it was made but it's still so unrealistic
