I felt very lucky to see this recently on the big screen in 35mm print. It is truly a spectacle to behold. The visual effects are very impressive and believable even nearly 50 years on. At the heart of the story is a family in desperate chaos, spiralling publicly towards a breakdown. It feels like they are on the verge of that breakdown despite the UFO sighting.
