A few good action scenes, nice costumes and settings, a so-so plot, an endearing lead, and Dame Helen all offset by the fact that Luc Besson needs to go back to 1990 -like this film - and open his dictionary to E and look up the difference between empowering and exploitative. Also could not get past the fact that the KGB was just convenient to plot here and no one apparently fact checked most of the end of the Soviet era details. St.Petersburg wasn’t St. Petersburg in 1990- it was Leningrad and so many details from the Soviet city settings were so far from reality.

Extremely light cheesy fare with at least somewhat of a plot. Vanessa Redgrave was a nice surprise. The leads were mildly appealing- but in the end this wouldn’t even rank in the top 50 of teen romances.

Why don’t they have a better security system leading out to the roof of the tower? That’s the first question. Second question is why anyone would hire Toni Collette for a film and not give her better plot, pacing, or dialogue. The cast performs well and the movie is heartfelt, but ultimately the movie trivializes suicide and mental health and doesn’t rise above that in the end.
