Finally, another good movie besides Truman Show that I watched with my mum - although she found it more intense than I did, partly 'cause I was aware of the true story before seeing this.
Though fun fact, this wasn't the first and only breakout from Alcatraz, with a previous one by two guys back in 1937.
Which kinda makes this one lose its charm a little, though this adaptation of the '62 is certainly decent.
2 stars to Gosling and McAdams for couple chemistry - shame the film a bore.
Watched it with my mum for while on her recovery, alongside the other rom-coms I've listed, so doing her a favour in keeping her company...😁😖😅
The most low-key horror I've seen so far - and probably maybe mine and most people's worst nightmare, that also kinda predicted the future imo. Except that Japan's attempt from years later after this came out, though not as massive in scale, was just as violating as Truman's, and in some aspects even worse - to the point it doesn't need its own movie (recent documentary aside, of course). 😭
Okay... I've got some mixed feelings on this, and I don't know why, but I need some time to process and figure out why...
