  The real Paterson, the Paterson that lives in my soul, spends all day looking forward — often with a freakish, very visible elation — to the 7 beers he's having at the bar that night. 7 or 8. 4 at least. Not 1, because no-one drinks 1 beer.

  Took some time after this admittedly titanic work to gather my thoughts. Firstly I'd like to say:
