This is another film that I had (drunkenly) seen before, and I think it may have been the one that sewed the seeds of this little reverse-Cage-athon experiment.
There is a *lot* that could be said about this movie, but I think that any review would probably detract from the experience. I think this is one that really just needs to be seen without having any idea what you're getting into. Some of the visuals are incredible, we definitely see…
So apparently this is the Director's Cut version of 2014's "Dying of the Light." Without having seen the original you'd think it would be hard to judge this movie, but it's not. I get that the directory was working off material he had available, but a lot of the movie looks like it was recorded on a little handicam. With many of the shots you can *kind* of tell what the director is trying to accomplish, but it's rough. Sometimes it's hard to tell if something was a design choice or a technical limitation.
The story itself had promise, but didn't deliver. The acting was "meh."
Yikes. It's pretty hard to find something to like about this film. The acting was all over the place, but overall just painful. The pacing was slow, making what were supposed to be tense moments into annoying slogs. There were several moments of the film where I zoned out and had to forcibly bring myself back to watching.
As far as to what Nic brought to this movie...his beard. He brought his beard. Not only was there a lack of any fraction of a Full Cage, but even the moments where we'd expect *some* emotion were ultimately disappointing.

So as has become the custom we went into this movie not knowing what it was about. However, I did see the Rotten Tomatoes score for it and was ...concerned. Let me say right off the bat that you should ignore those ratings and give this one a chance.
