ridley scott going god mode. the story of napoleon is told in a world of grey, the only joy in napoleons life comes from the intimacy of fireside nights with josephine or the explosions of the battles that will make him famous. phoenix and kirby are insanely poweful in each scene, perfectly capturing josephine as a porcelain goddess and napoleon as a brilliant yet idiotic and pathetic man, every single “intimate” scene is so beautifully pathetic. probably the funniest film of the year.
