Every actor is amazing to watch (love Michael Shannon in this), but I just haven’t been able to connect very well with non-linear stories like this.
I do really like how this movie treats phone calls though.
Not my favorite lumet but still worth a watch for Hoffman alone.
Another Kurosawa movie that makes me think oh this one is definitely his best. It’s shocking how relevant and sharp these movies all seem, and they don’t seem aged at all.
Also loved how much the first act feels like a stage play, just playing with how the actors can be blocked most interestingly.
I’m a big fan of how the script just embraces that Ethan hunt can handle anything so a lot of the tension comes from him not being there to handle stuff
