  I didn't read any reviews for this film before watching it but I was familiar with the overall sentiment of reviewers, which can perhaps be best summarized as "meh". However as a big fan of both First Class and Days of Future Past I decided to see Apocalypse anyway, and I am glad I did because I really enjoyed it. So, knowing what I do about the review scores I tried to figure out why this has a worse score…

  The Spectacular Now 2013

  There were a lot of things to like about The Spectacular Now but for reasons I don't fully understand I feel like it missed the mark with me. I'm not sure if it's a good story worked on by inferior talent or vice-versa but I never felt fully invested. It touched on some really great themes and emotions but I wasn't quite able to connect.
