Pure cinema

Prime example of why musicals should not hide being a musical and should in fact embrace it! This was an amazing adaptation that fixes the pacing issues I have with the broadway show. John Chu uses the film medium to add to and elevate the source material through wonderful cinematography and editing. Casting was on point and the music is fire as expected. Both leads were wonderful. This is everything a wicked fan wanted when the movie adaptation was announced almost 20 years ago.
“Its only 5 nights it shouldnt be that hard” I said to myself. That was when i realized freddy Fazbore was in the room.
Watching this was like watching a Saturday morning cartoon brought to life, and I mean this in the best way possible. The movie is very campy and definitely messy, with lots of characters and subplots that come and go fast. Despite this, I love the radical optimism the movie projects - this is how Superman should be portrayed on screen.

My favorite fantasy element was when the fascists were defeated. That unfortunately does not happen in real life 😢.
