given the amount of stupid takes I've read on this movie in the past few hours I'd like to add a word here to say goyim should not be allowed to say even a word about this movie tbh (the second half is GOOD, the alienation IS the point, and for gd's sake PLEASE stop being weird about the epilogue with interpretations that miss the point this feels like inception all over again)

Call Me by Your Name 2017
this is not a romance
it has never beeni found it romantic once, as a teenager, when it had just came out.
revisiting it is oh so strange, then. for i've been elio and every move, every bit of grooming is impossible to miss now. impossible to romanticize.
it's on being flattered to be an adult when you're still a child. tell me I'm good, tell me I'm smart, tell me I exist, when even the air is heavy…

Big suicide TW. That's the tragedy in the summary.
Cannes 22.
Lukas Dhont likes portraying LGBT kids suffering a little too much for my taste. Next level trauma porn. Sure, it'll make you cry. But did this really need to be put into the world ? Do we really need more stories of pain, suffering ? Of us not even reaching an age where we know ourselves ?
I'm tired of them. I'm tired of existing through this prism of trauma, and only that. At least this one wasn't offensive, but I genuinely wish I hadn't had to suffer through this melodramatic narrative.Translated from by -
Masquerade 2022
Cannes 22
Ah, yes, there is a big conspiracy of women with no heart willing to do anything (including pretend to be abused or shoot themselves) to abuse poor rich men.
Adjani playing pretty much a caricature of herself is delightful. The plot though ? A mess. This Gone Girl on the French Riviera relies too much on its plot twist, when really, it could actually have been a good movie without it.Translated from by
